Abstract

Introduction: The relevance of simulation in the development of students' competencies is a consensus among the researchers. Therefore, it is relevant to understand how the intersection among the components of this construct occurs in the learners' perspective. Objective: Verify the medical students' perception with regards to the components of competency developed in simulation. Method: This study has authorization, number 4,843,772, from the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculdade de Odontologia da Universidade de São Paulo - FOB/USP. This is a qualitative study of content analysis that will take place in a laboratory of abilities and simulation, with second year medical students from a public university located in the state of São Paulo. The data will be collected through a questionnaire with an open-ended question that will be answered by the students after a workshop about the evaluation and treatment of wounds. The collected data will be transcribed to NotePad®. Then, a text corpus will be elaborated. The processing and analysis of the data will be done by the software Interface de R pour lês Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionnaires (IRAMUTEQ®). For the analysis, the Descendant Hierarchical Classification of Reinert will be used. The classes obtained will be named following the identification and analysis of the text domains. Expected results: It is expected that the students' perception will reflect the development of the different components of competency, speculating how to optimize the use of simulation to develop each component.
