Abstract

In the search to expand the contributions of the research entitled "Aging in a rural settlement from the perspective of the Actor-Network Theory", the research internship abroad aims to enable the researcher to apply the Actor-Network Theory in her research context. The research group at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, coordinated by Professor Lupicínio Iñiguez Rueda, has dedicated itself for more than a decade to investigations in the area of social psychology, in social science methodology with an emphasis on qualitative research methods and techniques, in discourse analysis, in public policy analysis and in the Actor-Network Theory (ANT). ANT consists of a set of ideas that precede theoretical practice, in which the events studied apply to theory and not the other way around. Thus, ANT is simultaneously a method and a research theory. We understand that the experience of this group in Actor-Network Theory can help ensure the quality of data collection and, consequently, its analysis. It is understood, therefore, that the internship to be carried out at the School of Psychology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona will help us with the execution of the research, which focuses on ANT applied to the phenomenon of aging in a rural settlement. To this end, the researcher must: 1) participate in research group meetings abroad; 2) participate in classes taught by the supervisor of this internship and other professors from the research group; 3) monitor activities related to ANT application carried out by members of the research group; and 4) present your research in order to discuss it with the research group in light of the Actor-Network Theory. Therefore, a valuable contribution is expected, which is justified due to the scarcity of such studies in Brazil and the potential noted to strengthen and expand the use of ANT.
