Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the lives of workers, affecting their physical, social and psychological well-being. Studies show that burnout and stress are prevalent among workers due to psychosocial, sociodemographic and occupational factors. Understanding these factors is crucial to designing effective policies and interventions to protect workers' mental health.This prospective study, which follows workers for three years after the onset of the pandemic, aims to identify predictors of burnout symptoms and stress in Brazilian workers from different sectors.Study participants were recruited through advertisements in the local press, social media and email invitations. After applying the eligibility criteria, 1211 workers were included in the baseline. Follow-up was carried out until 2023, with 467 workers. The instruments used were the sociodemographic and occupational questionnaire, the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire II-Br (COPSOQ II-Br) and the Work Ability Index (WAI).The aim is to identify the predictors of burnout symptoms and stress in Brazilian workers from different sectors. This study serves as a starting point to understand the elements that contributed to the illness of these professionals in relation to burnout and stress during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it is expected that the study will contribute to the scientific training of undergraduate students and promote knowledge in the area.
