Abstract

The use of advanced technologies has promoted sustainable practices and increased productivity on smart farms, through the collection and analysis of large volumes of data, such as environmental data, enabling data-oriented management and decision-making. The e-Science promotes collaborative science through the intensive use of information and communication technologies. An information system called FarmSciHub has been developed to receive and store data from smart farms, allowing scientists to maintain and share their experimental data. However, that system still does not support data cleaning, data exploration through statistical methods, and neither the use of artificial intelligence to benefit analyses. This project aims to extend FarmSciHub to promote data science on farming data, overcoming its current limitations and exploring opportunities for technological development. The work plan includes steps for the deployment, maintenance, and improvement of the system, extending its functionalities, from IoT devices installed on the farm to collaborative research infrastructures and networks, and for different user profiles (stakeholders). As a result, we expect to facilitate decision-making, benefit research team collaborations and achieve innovation in digital farming.
