Abstract

This project aims to analyze the paths of women within journalism reporting in their new practicesthroughout the 1910s. We want to understand how access to this space contributed to theconformation of new professional practices linked to an immersive work in the streets and with aconstant presence in the newsrooms. The problem was outlined in the doctoral thesis when wefound that throughout the nineteenth century women occupied the press in Brazil, However, theirstories were made impossible by a production of hegemonic knowledge that categorized the nounjournalist as a male monopoly. As a strategy to be read, at first they created their own journals. Asthe decades passed, many realized there a workplace that began to be claimed and that providedremuneration for services. Some sought to adapt their businesses to the hegemonic model: fromthe published themes to the layout format, giving more prominence to the ads, to the politicalthemes and aiming for a more continuous publication. Others, in turn, began to look for work inthe newsrooms of daily newspapers, which hired their services to be carried out from their ownhomes, preferably without touching on the theme of rights. The female progression in thejournalistic career faced a path that took them to the daily leaves in the last decades of the Eighties, and that presents significant changes from the practice of reporting in the first decade of thetwentieth century.
