Abstract

This project seeks to analyze the discourses of the "I Encontro da Academia Brasileira de Letras com as Academias da América Latina: A missão das Academias no mundo de hoje (2020)", which constitutes our research corpus, in order to discursively analyze the characteristic regularities of the discourse of intellectual authorities during the period of the coronavirus pandemic, particularly with regard to the presence of morality in these discourses. The research is affiliated with the materialist theory of discourse according to the works of Michel Pêcheux (2006; 2014) and Eni Orlandi (2007, 2008). The methodology is that of Discourse Analysis, considering its theoretical device and constructing an analytical device, interweaving procedures of description and interpretation of the corpus of analysis. As for problematization, provoking effects of changing values, these discourses of the academics advocated a new ethics for the period, according to the changes that altered both the functioning of the intellectual life and the academy as well as for other sectors of public life. In this vein, we highlight the importance of the concept of "discursive adjustment", formulated by Marie-Anne Paveau (2015), through the functioning of which we can observe the functioning of subject-positions of academic authority. We also bring the reflection on transitivity and temporality in enunciation, as it is worked by Mónica Zoppi-Fontana (2014), articulating the work of the two researchers with the purpose of discussing aspects of the relationship between Discourse Analysis and Ethics and the study of morality.
