Abstract

This project aims to conduct a detailed analysis of artisanal crab fishing in the community of Subauma, located in the southern part of São Paulo state. Through periodic visits, we will collect data on the landing and commercialization of live crabs, with the goal of characterizing the local fishing activity. The study's stages include determining the proportion of each species captured, evaluating the seasonality of the sexual composition of the species, describing the dynamics of fishing and the capture methodology, and analyzing the size structure of the landed crabs. Additionally, we will use fishery production data to conduct a stock assessment using surplus production models. With this information, we hope to contribute to the sustainable management of artisanal fishing, promoting knowledge about local biodiversity and ensuring the continuity of fishing activities in the region. The research will be of great importance to the local community and conservation policies.
