Abstract

This historiographic and comparative research project aims to analyze three Brazilian plays from the 20th century, written in the 1970s, which allude the death of journalist Vladimir Herzog (1937-1975), tortured and murdered by agents of the 2nd Army in the Destacamento de Operações de Informação - Centro de Operações de Defesa Interna (DOI-CODI): Ponto de Partida (1976), by Gianfrancesco Guarnieri (1934-2006), Patética (1976), by João Chaves Netto and Fábrica de Chocolate (1979), by Mário Prata (1946-). In addition to the comparative analysis of these three dramaturgies, the project aims to investigate the publication processes of these texts, the stories of their first staging and the reaction of the public, critics and censors about the works. To this end, this research aims to collect theoretical and historical bibliography and primary material on the theme and the plays in libraries and archives of São Paulo and in virtual collections, and interview artists involved with the works.
