Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyse the circulation of pedagogical practices in design in the first half of the 20th century, based on the professional trajectories of Elisabeth Nobiling (1902-1975), Lina Bo Bardi (1914-1992), Marta Erps-Breuer (1902-1977) and Renina Katz (1925). To do this, we used as axes of analysis academic education, circuits of sociability and working partnerships, and the repercussions of these dialogues on teaching practices in Brazil. This research project abroad, linked to a post-doctorate at the Institute of Brazilian Studies, intends to document a generation of women teachers in design, arts and architecture throughout the 1950s and 1960s. By collecting documentation and bibliographic material in France, Italy and Germany, we propose to relate the four trajectories from a context of the institutionalisation of university education, at a time when the field of design was directly linked to training in architecture and the arts.
