Abstract

It is widely recognized that Brazil and the Indigenous peoples of the Americas played a fundamental role in the sensibility and imagination of Claude Lévi-Strauss. However, what is often overlooked is the role that cities played in shaping the anthropologist's thinking. In this sense, this project aims to explore the ways in which we can reflect on the notion of "city" and the "urban phenomenon" through the trajectory and intellectual production of Claude Lévi-Strauss. By exploring the relationships between humans and nature as discussed by the anthropologist, the project seeks to establish dialogues between his observations and the contemporary ecological debate on climate change. In this way, we hope to contribute with other perspectives and ways of thinking about the construction and habitation of cities as they exist today. Therefore, it is necessary to delve into the threads of Claude Lévi-Strauss's thought in order to move toward the conceptions of a "wild city."
