Abstract

This research project aims to investigate quantum light sources, focusing on single-photon emitters based on individual molecules and photon bunching sources in metallic junctions. The experimental approach combines the excitation of these systems via tunneling current, using a scanning tunneling microscope with optical access (STM), with the characterization of photon statistics through a Hanbury Brown and Twiss (HBT) interferometer. In the study of molecules, the objective is to explore the detailed effects of the decoupling substrate on the emission intensity and time constant of single photons emitted by individual phthalocyanine molecules deposited in situ. For metallic junctions, the focus is on exploring multiple-photon emission processes, investigating the influence of the spatial direction of light and the plasmonic properties of the tip in the junctions. The study aims to provide valuable insights for the development of electrically-driven quantum light sources, with potential applications in quantum technologies.
