Abstract

This scientific initiation project aims to understand the ethnomathematical knowledge and practices of babalorixás and ialorixás in their Umbanda terreiros. The methodology is qualitative and is based on the assumptions of (auto)biographical research. The data will be constructed from narrative interviews with the participants and will be analyzed based on categories created afterwards. The results may indicate, based on the narration of lived experience, knowledge and ethnomathematic practices of a specific cultural group, enabling reflection on the construction of curricula and the development of practices in Basic Education that assume a decolonial stance in teaching and learning. mathematics and that value the contributions of Afro-Brazilian culture to the constitution of this country.
