Abstract

The project to which the scholarship is linked is CeMEAI, Center for Applied Mathematical Sciences in Industry. The theme of the scholarship holder's work is related to the computational simulation of solid bodies immersed in Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids considering regimes with low Reynolds number. The student must become familiar with the mathematical/numerical formulation and with the simulation software being developed by the numerical microfluidics group at ICMC-USP, which is based on the Firedrake finite element platform, and perform simulations to study the control of solid bodies that interact with the fluid.
