Abstract

The objective of this activity plan is the structural characterization of copper(II) complexes with hydrazides, in order to evaluate the structural and physicochemical properties demonstrated by complexes of bioinorganic relevance. To this end, new copper(II) coordination compounds will be synthesized using ligands of the hydrazide class, which will be characterized by the techniques of single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, Raman spectroscopy and electron spectroscopy. In this way, the intern will follow the activities related to the development of research in progress at the laboratory, corresponding to the FAPESP Thematic Project No. 2017/15850-0, entitled "X-ray Diffraction as a Tool in the Development of Potential Drugs" and whose main researchers are: Eduardo Ernesto Castellano, Javier Alcides Ellena, both from IFSC and Alzir Azevedo Batista from the Department of Chemistry at UFSCar.From the work developed in the laboratory, it is expected that the intern will acquire an experience within a crystallography laboratory, being able to improve her knowledge about characterization techniques that are used to understand the properties of different types of materials.
