Abstract

The antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the biggest threats to global health. It can lead to higher medical costs and increase of mortality. As so, a key problem is to quantify and even estimate the impact or burden caused by an AMR. The following points should be considered: (1) the effect of the resistance in comparisonwith a non-resistance scenario; (2) the effect of the resistance in comparison with the use of prevention strategies to avoid resistance; (3) the effectivity of known preventive strategies to mitigate AMR; (4) The design of intervention strategies to mitigate the spread of AMR over geographical regions (5) The identification of exogenous factors that are likely to cause AMR, including due to climate and environmental changes. These items will be considered from the perspective of the theory of complex systems dynamics.
