Abstract

This research aims to investigate the influence of women's representation in political offices on government stability and democratic health, focusing on Latin America. The study will analyze whether an increased presence of women in government positions correlates with political Stability, particularly in contexts where democracy is vulnerable. Utilizing the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) dataset, this research will identify key indicators of democratic Stability and compare them to the representation levels of women in legislative and executive positions. Additionally, the study aims to understand how women's negotiation behaviors may contribute to government stability as described in the literature. The findings will address a significant gap in the research on gender, democracy, and Stability within the Latin American context, where few studies have explored this intersection.
