Abstract

This proposal is linked to the research group Subject Composing Processes by Educative Practices (Processos de Constituição do Sujeito em Práticas Educativas), by the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas (PUCC) Psychology postgraduate program. Its theme is related to the group's mother-project, entitled "The power of research-intervention guided by art in the transformation of school and education: Collaborative and collective practices in psychology," which is based on the historical-cultural psychology theoretical-methodological presumptions, with emphasis on the concepts developed by Lev S. Vygotsky. In a qualitative and interventional nature, the study aims to analyze the meaning of masculinity for high school students in a public school in the periphery of Campinas city. The study of this theme is justified as a result of our observations in previous research of the group, which brought up conflicts involving students who are not part of the hegemonic identity, resulting, at times, in psychological or physical violence. This issue has also shown itself to be relevant in the bibliographic revision developed, indicating a necessity for deepening in analyses that favor a wide comprehension of the matter. With the results, it is expected to broaden the students' understanding of gender identity and establish, as a practice in schools, spaces for discussions and reflection about conflicts involving gender diversity and sexual orientation. As a result, it is intended to reduce situations of violence committed by students in the school environment.
