Abstract

With the advent of combined and potent antiretroviral therapy in the 1990s, the life expectancy of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) increased considerably. This significant demographic shift has led to a growing impact associated with population aging, necessitating effective policies to ensure the quality of life for this population. It has been observed that PLWHA experience a more pronounced acceleration of the aging process due to factors caused by the virus itself. Additionally, the so-called Social Determinants of Health are linked to the illness process, influencing the health and well-being of PLWHA. In light of these factors and the scarcity of scientific data on the subject, this Scientific Initiation project involves the collection of social, psychosocial, depression-associated, behavioral, and functional capacity data regarding daily tasks, which influence the illness process. This is part of a larger study assessing neurocognitive disorders and frailty in PLWHA aged 50 and older. The collected data will be organized in Microsoft Excel and subjected to statistical analysis. Questionnaire scores will be analyzed according to each instrument's methodology and classified according to established criteria.
