Abstract

Menopause is a period in women's lives when several hormonal and physiological changes occur, bringing with them difficulties and insecurities, which directly affect the daily lives of women who are going through this process. Thus, this research project aims to analyze the effects of diet and sleep quality on the well-being and relief or worsening of symptoms of women in menopause. This is a quantitative study with an exploratory descriptive nature, to be carried out with women who attend the Vila Lobato Community Social Medical Center, located in the West District of the city of Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. Data collection will initially take place through recruitment according to availability at the study site. Then, the interview begins with the collection of sociodemographic data, followed by the application of the adapted Brazilian version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and ending with the 24-hour dietary recall together with the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS), in order to explore climacteric symptoms. The data will be organized in spreadsheets and analyzed using descriptive statistics, with relative and absolute values, mean and standard deviation measurements, and inferential statistics using the Chi-square test and T-test for independent samples, considering p < 0.05. In this way, it is expected to advance studies on menopause, with the aim that women who go through this period have adequate information for better management of symptoms based on the results obtained with this research.
