Abstract

This project aims to develop and apply a Multidimensional Environmental Justice Index for municipalities in the state of São Paulo, focusing on measuring socio-environmental inequalities. Using an exploratory approach that combines quantitative and qualitative methods, the research proposes to operationalize the concept of environmental justice, integrating multiple dimensions. To construct the index, a systematic literature review will be conducted, following the PRISMA protocol in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, and data collection will include sources such as the Demographic Census, the National Sanitation Information System, MapBiomas, Atlas Brasil, the National Center for Monitoring and Alerts of Natural Disasters, and the National Institute of Meteorology, the Demographic Census, the National Sanitation Information System, MapBiomas and other geospatial databases. The statistical technique to be used will be Exploratory Factor Analysis. The project aims not only to map environmental inequalities in the context of São Paulo, but also to create a replicable model for other regions, providing subsidies for more effective public policies. The expected results include the validation of the theoretical model and the application of the index to guide actions that promote greater equity and sustainability.
