Abstract

The performance of a battery, along with its charge/discharge capacity and cyclability, depends on the formation of a stable interfacial film (known as the Solid Electrolyte Interface, SEI) on the negative electrode. This project aims to investigate the redox mechanisms that generate the compounds responsible for SEI formation in an additive-enhanced electrolyte of interest for sodium-ion batteries.Sodium-ion batteries are an alternative to the well-established lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, with significant room for performance improvements.
