Abstract

This research project aims to analyze the notions about care work that is produced by activists of a social movement in the city of Campinas-SP in the activity of supporting r women victims of violence. Based on the definition by Joan Tronto (2007), according to which care is the commitment to meet the needs of other dependent or vulnerable people, and understanding victims of violence as people in a situation of vulnerability, we frame the work done by activists for women affected by violence as care work. The research will be conducted in the Women's Occupation Maria Lúcia Petit Vive!, in Campinas, which provides the service of supporting women victims of violence independently from the formal institutions dedicated to this in the city. The service was built from the diagnosis of the movement that the public apparatus in the city go through a situation of overload and precariousness of working conditions and consequent degradation in the quality of the services offered to women in situations of violence. Through interviews with the activists who organize the occupation, who made diagnoses on the formal institutions and perform the service of care, we propose to understand what are the notions of care that circulate, which are mobilized and produced in this space, from the criticism of the services in force and the practice of supporting and sheltering women's victims of violence proposed by the movement. Thematic analysis will be used to analyze the data and compare it with literature and institutional data.
