Abstract

This internship and research project abroad (BEPE-FAPESP), to be carried out at the Centre d'Anthropologie Culturelle at the Université Paris Cité under the supervision of Professor Octave Debary, aims to deepen the concept of "remains-images" through the study of modern and contemporary artists, to be conducted in archives, museums, and exhibitions. This project also aims to further develop the theoretical and methodological framework around the "anthropology of remains" and its relationship with the study of artistic practices (Debary 2017a; 2017b; 2023). In connection with the initial project of this doctoral research, the internship will analyze how artistic and literary practices work with archive materials, discarded remnants, material and symbolic residues, as well as with the reappropriation of archives, using Baudelaire's poetics and reflections on "modernity" as a starting point, exploring its approximations and differences in relation to "contemporary" artistic practices.
