Abstract

Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) is a qualitative enamel defect that makes the tooth more fragile and susceptible to fractures when exposed to mechanical impacts. Treating these fractures is a significant challenge, and although many studies focus on finding the best restorative materials, there is still limited information on how these treatments affect children's well-being and parental satisfaction. This study aims to evaluate the quality of life of children before and after restorative treatment using two materials: GIC-glass ionomer cement (Equia Forte®) and RC-composite resin (Clearfil SE Bond® + Filtek Z350XT®). Quality of life will be measured before the restorative treatment and one week after its completion. The satisfaction of both children and parents will also be analyzed after the restorative procedure. The study will be conducted in a randomized manner with children aged 6 to 14 years who have at least one permanent molar affected by MIH and with a fracture involving up to three surfaces of the tooth, without compromising more than half of the area that receives chewing impact. Participants will be stratified based on the extent of the fracture, and all children will complete a quality-of-life questionnaire before starting treatment. The restorations will be performed in a dental setting, preferably under rubber dam isolation, following the manufacturer's recommendations. After one week, the child will answer the questionnaire again, and both the child and the parents will complete satisfaction questionnaires. The data will be analyzed using Jamovi software through repeated measures analysis of variance, with a 95% significance level.
