Abstract

This project proposes a research internship at the Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Urbanismo of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (FADU-UNL) in Santa Fe, Argentina, under the supervision of Professor Adriana Collado and co-supervision of Professor Julio Arroyo, with the aim of deepening the understanding of the processes of appropriation and transformation of public space in contemporary cities, based on the hypothesis of the "divided city" (Arroyo, 2011, 2016).The ongoing master's research at the University of São Paulo (USP) investigates spatial practices in the central squares of São Carlos (SP), focusing on the impacts of socio-spatial segregation on urban sociability, using Arroyo's "Multiple Images" (2011) as a methodological approach, along with the collage technique based on a cartographic approach. The internship at FADU-UNL will enable an academic exchange with the local research group, allowing for the identification of similarities between the urban contexts of São Carlos and Santa Fe, as well as methodological improvement in the use of images and the analysis of urban dynamics. It is expected that the internship will contribute to the development of an expanded framework on the relationship between public space and contemporary urban dynamics, enabling the publication of academic articles, strengthening international research networks, and consolidating a robust theoretical and methodological foundation for the dissertation.Furthermore, the project aims to continue a series of collaborations already established between FADU-UNL and USP, under the supervision of Professors Julio Arroyo and Adriana Collado.
