Abstract

The research project aims to analyze urbanization interventions in slums, with a specific focus on environmental multidimensionality, which includes aspects such as urban drainage, sanitation, risk situations, and the creation of open spaces. The central issue to be addressed refers to the difficulty in achieving an adequate socio-environmental qualification in infrastructure interventions in these areas, particularly in drainage works and watercourses. The study seeks to understand why, despite a significant volume of investments and the implementation of urbanization projects, the results have not always been satisfactory, especially regarding environmental recovery and the integration of slums into the city. The specific objectives are: to analyze the physical aspects of the implemented projects, from conception to post-urbanization, focusing on the complexity of infrastructure solutions in watercourse works; to study methodologies for analyzing infrastructure and socio-environmental projects, by developing quantitative and qualitative parameters to assess the progress and limitations of the implemented projects; to organize a collection of infrastructure project typologies in the context of integrated urbanization; and to develop recommendations for improving integrated interventions in slum urbanization.
