Abstract

This project seeks to understand the distribution of urban services and equipment for collective use in the slums of the city of Ubatuba, especially the differences that exist between them, considering the contradictions and conflicts in the production of the urban space. The actions promoted by the public power are inherent to the contemporary capitalist system, which, however, tends to reflect more directly in the segments with lower purchasing power. We will try to understand this logic in the various spheres in order to give an overview of the current condition of the slums in the municipality. The methodological procedures are based on the readings, the analysis of the maps and graphs, satellite images, the application of questionnaires with citizens, and an interview with the public agencies, as well as a socioeconomic survey. The field diaries will also be used as a resource to build a typology of slum areas in Ubatuba/SP. Thus, the research aims to understand the deficiencies in these areas of collective consumption means - infrastructure, equipment and urban services - in addition to the conflict generated in the process of constitution of the slum process in Ubatuba/SP.
