Abstract

This research project looks at climate disinformation among vulnerable groups, especially children and adolescents aged between 9 and 17. Based on the idea that media education can be an instrument of social emancipation, we will seek to understand the importance of meeting the targets set by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - especially item 13, which deals with Action against global climate change, in sub-items 13.2, 13.3 and 13.b - based on actions aimed at mitigating climate disinformation, with special attention to vulnerable groups. The specific objectives are: to understand how climate disinformation affects quality of life and understanding of the importance of environmental education, with an emphasis on vulnerable groups; to verify how the São Paulo State Department of Education encourages and monitors media education in schools; to understand the role of the BNCC in fulfilling the SDGs and global actions to mitigate the global climate problem; to verify how international organizations have dealt with the issue of climate disinformation. The methodology will be exploratory research, with a qualitative bias, using bibliographic and documentary research procedures, using narrative analysis, with a focus on investigating global and national actions aimed at mitigating climate disinformation. The databases of the main international organizations (UN, UNESCO, OECD) and national organizations (BNCC, Secretariat of Education of the State of São Paulo and other government documents) will be used. It is hoped that this research will contribute to a better understanding of the climate issue, reduce the inequality of access to qualified information and draw the attention of school managers, educators, journalists and political actors to the issue of climate disinformation.
