Abstract

The development of eVTOLs (electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles) is closely tied to the advancement of modern urban mobility, which seeks faster, more sustainable, and efficient transport solutions to address increasing city congestion. However, introducing these vehicles into urban areas presents significant challenges, particularly regarding propeller noise control. Research in this field is essential, as noise reduction is crucial for ensuring community acceptance and the feasibility of operations in densely populated urban centers. In this context, this project aims to develop experimental methods to measure propeller noise in wind tunnels using a microphone array and beamforming techniques. Installation effects, including the presence of nearby surfaces such as pylons or wings, will be analyzed. Additionally, noise reduction solutions might be proposed, such as surface treatments with acoustic liners or porous extensions.
