Abstract

Distributed energy resources, such as photovoltaic generators and electric vehicles, are crucial in planning the energy transition. However, the quantity of these resources that can be directly connected to the electric power distribution systems without requiring upgrades is limited, a concept generically called hosting capacity. Additionally, the installation of smart meters with communication capabilities in customer units has increased considerably. In this context, this research project aims to develop methodologies for estimating the hosting capacity of distributed energy resources using data from smart meters. Such methodologies will be developed bycritically analyzing the minimum measurement requirements in terms of electrical quantities and measurement resolution. The main restrictive factors that will be investigated are voltage quality and the conduction and transformation capacity of the network elements. Proven experience in Python, OpenDSS, QGIS and PostgreSQL/SQLite is required for the development of the project. (AU)
