Abstract

This project consists of an intertextual analysis of the myth of Orpheus as presented in Ovid's Metamorphoses and Virgil's Georgics. The analysis will be carried out by identifying allusive markers in Ovid's version that refer to Virgil's, such as lexical choices, syntactic structures, similes, and other linguistic devices that create a dialogue between the two texts. In addition to the analysis, the project also proposes the development of an annotated translation of the myth of Orpheus from Book XI of Ovid's Metamorphoses (vv. 1-66), with the aim of deepening the study of the similarities and differences between the two versions of the myth.
