Abstract

Student dropout in teacher education programs currently represents a major challenge for teacher training in Brazil and has been the subject of investigation by various researchers. Less explored, however, are the factors that contribute to the persistence of students in these programs. In light of this gap, this research project aims to investigate the factors that influence the academic persistence of students enrolled in a Pedagogy program, analyzing the challenges and motivations involved in this process. This is a qualitative study, to be conducted with senior students enrolled in the fourth year of the course, through the use of questionnaires. The empirical reference will be a Pedagogy program from one of the state universities in São Paulo. The results will be analyzed in dialogue with both national and international literature. The objective is to understand the processes involved in student persistence and to contribute to the debate on the sustainability of teacher education, potentially proposing strategies to address the issue of student dropout. The research is part of the broader project "Universitarization of Teacher Education: État de lieux and International Comparisons." (AU)
