Abstract

Salmonella Gallinarum (SG) and Salmonella Pullorum (SP) are among the most prevalent serovars found in poultry, causing significant economic losses, along with Salmonella Enteritidis (SE), one of the main causes of foodborne infections in humans. In commercial poultry, during the disease pathogenesis, the bird's innate immunity plays an essential role, since Salmonella, through virulence mechanisms, is able to establish and multiply inside macrophages, resulting in dissemination to other organs such as the spleen and liver. Therefore, it is important to understand how these pathogens evade the host's innate defense, establishing systemic infections. In this study, we propose to evaluate the capture and survival of SG, SP and SE in macrophage-like chicken cells type HD11. (AU)
