Abstract Fowl typhoid is an important disease for the poultry industry, due to the damage caused by the highest chicken mortality, which can reach 80% or more. Among the main biosecurity measures are the correct management in the poultry house and the adoption of vaccines. The present study aims to continue the previous work of this research group with a mutant strain of Salmonella Gallinarum containing the deletion of the cobS and cbiA genes, a potential candidate vaccine. The objective is to infect chicken primary macrophages, the main cells involved in the pathogenesis of fowl typhoid, comparing the capture and survival with the wild strain. Furthermore, the differential gene expression of both strains will be verified, providing further information on the behaviour of these bacteria during infection. | |
