Abstract

Forests are fundamental for the conservation of biodiversity and for the maintenance and well-being of millions of people. Traditional and local communities in the Amazon depend on forest conservation to protect their tangible and intangible heritage and maintain their ways of life. However, the region has been threatened by vectors that put pressure on socio-environmental conservation and intensify socio-economic inequality. Despite this, local initiatives based on the conservation of socio-biodiversity have been established in the region, such as the strengthening of value chains based on forestry and agroforestry products. This study aims to understand the relationship between value chains based on socio-biodiversity products and the transformation and enhancement of landscapes and the maintenance of ecosystem services in the in the surrounding area. To this, the study will be carried out in collaboration with Fruit Growers Cooperative from Abaetetuba-PA - COFRUTA and methodologies will be adopted that involve analysis of land use changes, co-production of socio-environmental indicators and socio-ecological surveys carried out from the integration of geospatial analysis, institutional analysis, ethnographic methods and socio-economic analysis.
