Abstract

The government of the state of São Paulo has been implementing public policies based on the sustainable use of native vegetation as a conservation strategy for the flora. However, the normative instruments are still fragile, and there is a lack of diagnoses regarding sociobiodiversity product chains, as well as a lack of information exchange and coordinated actions. The project aims to develop applied research on the topic of biodiversity conservation in the Brazilian context, as well as the associated knowledge, wisdom, and cultures, considering scientific, political, environmental, and social aspects. Through the gathering, collection, and organization of data rooted in various actors' conceptions and appropriations of the topic - such as researchers, administrators, governmental and non-governmental agents, civil society, traditional peoples and communities, and educators in general - the goal is to contribute to the improvement of public policies for sociobiodiversity concerning the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of São Paulo state's biodiversity.
