Abstract

One of the CCD's thematic lines involves making communities resilient to extreme weather events. A fundamental dimension of this challenge involves understanding and analyzing the risk communication processes of extreme weather and climate events. However, scientific studies on this topic are still scarce. This doctoral scholarship aims to train human resources to generate knowledge in the field of risk communication. The research objective will be to analyze the processes of popular communication about extreme weather and climate events. The analysis of popular communication processes will consider four main aspects: the characteristics of the communicators, the means used for communication, the content of the messages, and the contexts of communication. Regarding the characteristics of the communicators, the intention is to analyze them from the age and gender dimensions. The means used can involve various social networks and messaging applications. Regarding the contexts of communication, although it is challenging to separate face-to-face from virtual spaces, the aim will be to map the content and means of communication used while the communicators are in public spaces and at home. The aim will be to map and analyze the contents of the subjects in order to delve deeper into themes associated with the CCD. (AU)
