Abstract

The Western São Paulo region, where the municipality of Presidente Prudente is located, has undergone an intense deforestation process over the years. Native vegetation areas, such as the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado, have been replaced by pastures and agricultural crops, resulting in significant environmental impacts and accelerated degradation of local ecosystems. Currently, given the growing challenges posed by environmental degradation and biodiversity loss, it has become increasingly urgent to implement effective actions aimed at the recovery of degraded areas. Thus, the main objective of this project is to propose an Ecological Restoration in the Environmental Protection Area designated for rural use in Timburi (APA do Timburi), in Presidente Prudente/SP. This involves the application of São Paulo State Resolution SMA No. 32, dated April 3, 2014, to assess the environmental health of the APA. Additionally, the methodologies established in São Paulo State Ordinance CBRN No. 01/2015 will be used to calculate ecological indicators. Furthermore, the Ecological Restoration projects align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 3, 13, and 15, which focus on health and well-being, climate change, and forest-related issues. The work will be carried out in partnership with the rural landowner, with the aim of encouraging and promoting restoration practices for degraded areas among neighboring landowners.
