Abstract

The importance of science and technology flows for economic development has already been outlined in the literature, which shows that, as a country develops, interactions between scientific infrastructure and technological production intensify. These spillovers are not necessarily unidirectional, but can occur in several ways. At the same time, the literature on complexity highlights that the capabilities available in a given location are manifested in existing specializations. Based on these considerations, this project aims to investigate whether technological donations from a location influence the acquisition of new scientific specializations. To this end, data from patents from INPI and scientific publications available in SciVal organized at the level of Brazilian states will be used. These data will be evaluated through the construction of relational density indices and econometric analyses at the state level.
