Abstract

Introduction: Chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMD) is a leading cause of suffering and disability. Pain neuroscience education is an intervention that can reconceptualize pain as less threatening and help individuals understand their clinical condition. Health literacy can be a great ally in the self-management of CMD, as it allows the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and self-confidence to make decisions about health care and pain. Objective: To translate and adapt to Brazilian culture a set of infographics used with the Spanish population and to explore users' opinions about these infographics. Methods: Individuals with CMD will be included. The infographics will be developed in four stages: 1. translation and adaptation based on literature, important details about pain, and collaborative discussions; 2. evaluation to verify awareness and comprehension of the prototype infographics; 3. analysis and reflexivity to identify themes and subthemes of the interview; and 4. survey, to assess understanding and application of the information presented. Focus groups will be recorded, transcribed anonymously and analyzed using software-supported thematic analysis. Data will be compared and coded inductively, organizing categories into a framework that will provide themes and subthemes. (AU)
