Impact of the use of I-PRF and xenograft with collagen for alveolar bone preservation on healing and maintenance of bone volume.

Abstract

Alveolar bone preservation (ABP) procedures aim to minimize alveolar ridge resorption. Using xenografts with collagen components contributes to remodeling and accelerating bone healing since collagen carries morphogenetic proteins. In addition, xenografts associated with platelet-rich fibrin (I-PRF) enhance cell proliferation and promote healing. Thus, this prospective, randomized, controlled study aims to evaluate the performance of the ABSP procedure with different approaches through clinical, radiographic, and molecular biomarker evaluations. Seventy-five individuals will be selected, randomized, and submitted to ABP post-extraction, according to the following groups: 1) clot + free gingival grafts (FGG); 2) ExtraGraft - a natural bone substitute of bovine origin associated with type 1 collagen (EG) + FGG; 3) EG + injectable platelet-rich fibrin (I-PRF) + FGG. Tomographic evaluations of bone volume will occur immediately and three months after surgery. Patient-centered parameters, soft tissue assessments during the initial healing period, and photographs for palate healing analysis will be conducted. After three months of ABP, implants will be installed, and insertion torque and primary stability will be recorded. Bone will be collected for biomarker analysis, and peri-implant crevicular fluid will be analyzed for inflammatory markers. Following osseointegration, patients will be rehabilitated and assessed for peri-implant health. Statistical analysis will be performed (¿=0.05). (AU)
