Abstract

The main objective of this postdoctoral project is to use S-PLUS to study the stellar populations of central galaxies in clusters (cDs) and of jellyfish galaxies in groups and clusters of galaxies. To this end, we will perform a fit analysis of the spectral energy distribution of these objects using the 12 bands of the Javalambre system of wide and narrow filters. The objective is to study how the evolution of galaxies occurs in dense environments at two extremes - the central galaxies, those that dominate the gravitational potential of clusters and groups, and the jellyfish galaxies, systems that have usually joined the cluster recently, and that have had their gas removed by the pressure generated by the intracluster medium. Our sample of cDs consists of 40 galaxies that are spectroscopically confirmed and located in the groups and clusters studied by the SCALE project (S-Plus Cluster/group and Large-scale environmental studies). The jellyfish sample, on the other hand, are the best examples of this type of galaxy, selected from the same project. The postdoc will be responsible for estimating the properties of stellar populations in these galaxies and conducting a comparative study between various clusters and groups.
