Abstract

The advance of environmental degradation, intensified by the inappropriate use of environmental resources and disorderly urban expansion, has generated profound socio-spatial inequalities, exposing vulnerable populations to fragile environments with precarious infrastructure. In this context, the project will propose the development of a territorial diagnostic tool to identify priority areas for socio-environmental intervention in the municipality of Marília, São Paulo, Brazil, adaptively integrating the methodological assumptions of environmental fragility, Ross (1994), which classifies the territory into levels of potential and emerging fragility, with the Urban Quality of Life (QVU) model, Morato (2008), Morato, Kawakubo, Luchiari (2008), and Morato et al. (2013), which adds socioeconomic, educational, and infrastructure variables to the analysis process, thus allowing for the expansion of an approach that considers the physical or environmental medium with social aspects. As a result, the methodological procedure adopted will be integrated and adaptive, articulating different databases, analytical techniques, and computational tools in order to produce indicators and spatial representations that enable a comprehensive view of the territory. To this end, the internship at CEGOT, University of Coimbra, under the supervision of Lúcio Cunha, will qualify the project by contributing to the process of interdisciplinary methodological integration, expanding its scientific robustness and applicability in guiding public policies aimed at reducing inequalities and improving quality of life. Keywords: Environmental fragility. Urban Quality of Life (UQL). Environmental planning. Land use planning. Marília - SP, Brazil.
