Abstract

The Scientific Journalism proposal is linked to the project "Functional Trees: Development-Oriented Management" and aims to structure strategic actions for scientific dissemination and education aimed at both the academic community and civil society. Considering the territorial impact of the study in the Ibirapuera Park region-an area with high pedestrian traffic in the urban zone of São Paulo-the initiative seeks to bring the population closer to the objectives, methods, and social relevance of research on urban arboriculture and development-based management of species. Within the academic-institutional aspect, the production of scientific and institutional dissemination materials, in digital and printed formats, is included for the presentation of results at events, technical reports, dissemination of scholarships, and training opportunities. This front aims to strengthen the dissemination of the knowledge produced, expand collaboration networks, and give visibility to the project's actions within the scientific community and public bodies. Activities aimed at civil society will focus on accessible and educational communication. This approach intends to translate the research objectives into clear language for park visitors and residents of the surrounding area, highlighting the importance of proper tree management for thermal comfort, safety, environmental quality, and collective well-being. The proposal includes in-person activities and explanatory content that resonates with the daily lives of the urban population. To broaden the reach of the initiatives, the management of digital platforms is planned, centralizing information on objectives, results, technical products, and partnership opportunities, creating a permanent channel for dialogue between academia, public administration, and citizens. By integrating scientific dissemination, environmental education, and strategic communication, the proposal seeks to strengthen scientific culture in the city and broaden public understanding of urban afforestation.
