Abstract

High Speed Cutting researches have been studied in academic and industrial areas more effectively for 15 years. However, most of results from this subject relates to investigations about productivity, production costs, tool performance, CNC command efficiency and machine-tools motion systems. Few works concern in analysing potential influences of this cutting condition on product surface integrity. Due to this possible study opportunity, this project aims at available if the high speed milling affects both the microstructure and microhardness of hot forged gears. The methodology will consider two heat treatment procedures: annealing and furnace controlled cooling. The trials will be carried out in a CNC vertical machining center capable of operating at high speed milling.
