Abstract

Santiago (2009) says that technology as a way to use both for entertainment and for optimization and efficiency of means of production is creating the need to modify the profile of health professionals, causing to them to become able to deal with the technological resources available in market in order to provide service agility, economy, standardization of language among the employees, practical, and solution. The health field is integrating in daily the use of computers as facilitative resource to access and register data from the health services users, providing faster settings of appointments and examinations, and speed access to users' data, such as test results, registration data and update files. The use of computers consists of an instrument for managing the health service, aiming to assist in organization and planning the space and activities offered, making lives of people served and the professionals involved easier, forecasting and providing material resources to be used by service. Thus, Nursing as an effective participant of mentioned practices, is a profession that requires technological resources to facilitate and organize its work, since it deals with register of assistance to users of the health system, that includes planning, implementation and evaluation of assistance, and operates in the management of the workplace, with activities related to management of human resources and materials to be used by professionals for a better functioning of the service. The object of this research study is "the use of computers in nurses' perspective in their daily practice in a university hospital." The objectives of this study are to identify the use of computers in the perspective of nurses in their hospital practice and analyze the integration of the computer as a resource for nursing work. This is descriptive-exploratory qualitative research with a qualitative perspective. (AU)
