Abstract

Chronic inflammations can be related to development and persistence of different types of tumor. Prolonged generation and secretion of proinflammatory cytokines in chronic inflammation microenvironment amplify tumor lesions. Danger signals induce bioactive IL-1² and IL-18 production, which is correlated with acute and chronic inflammation ending in a type of cell death termed pyroptosis. The production of these cytokines occurs by an intracellular structure known as inflammasome. The role of inflammasome in development and progress of epithelial squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) still is not established. Therefore, the objective of this work is to evaluate the role of inflammasome and production of IL-1² and IL-18 in the establishment and progression of chemically induced-OSCC in mice. (AU)
