Abstract

In this research work a theoretical analysis of the performance of an active control system using magnetic bearings as actuators for reducing rotor vibrations will be developed. Synchronous and subsynchronous frequency vibrations frequently occur in rotating machines which operate at higher speeds. Thus, a feedback system to attenuate those vibration frequencies will be employed. The goal of this work is carry on an analysis of the performance of the magnetic actuator as a function of control force and electric current necessary to attenuate rotor vibrations at a given level. Also, to analyze the application of the magnetic bearing as a function of its position respec to the exciting forces locations. The analysis will accomplished using rotor models developed by the impedance matrix method.
