Abstract

In this work a theoretical analysis of the performance of a system of active control using magnetic bearings as no-contact actuators for reducing vibrations in rotors will be developed. A feedback control type will be used to attenuate unbalance vibration and subsynchronous vibration due to instability that frequently appears in turbomachinery at frequency below to the operation frequency. The main focus of this work is the analysis of the performance of the actuator as a function of its relative position respect to the points where the exciting forces are acting onto the rotor. An analysis of the necessary force of control to be applied by the actuator to reach a previous established rotor vibration level will also be accomplished. The analysis will be carried out employing rotor models developed by the impedance matrices method. (AU)
