Abstract

In this project, the effect of additions of 1, 2 and 3 wt.%Ag in the kinetics of martensitic phase decomposition in the Cu-11wt.%Al alloy will be studied using optical (OM) and scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX)and microhardness measurements with temperature and time. Results obtained for the Cu-11wt.%Al alloy will be compared with those obtained for alloys with Ag addition, to analyse the martensitic phase decomposition mechanism.
